Role in “Obsession”
Hello once again! Now that the filming of “Obsession” has finally come to an end, let’s do some reviews on it.
Production has been a really great experience, I believe not only for me, but also the rest of the cast and crew. There were though, many unexpected hitches along the way. This reminds us all yet again that planning is indeed the backbone of every production. Backup plans must always come in handy due to the limited time where cast and crew members have willingly used up for the production. Last minute changes will affect so much in a production. Things might not be going smoothly and postponing is a rather bad habit. Every single matter associated with the progress of the production must be taken into careful consideration.
As the producer, screenwriter and scriptwriter of the film, I am truly satisfied with the raw footages which have yet to be editted. I must admit at first, I am clueless as to how storylines are being arranged. It started with a simple composition of Obsession. I did my research and found out that in order to produce a story into a film, a screenplay must first be written. I did further research on how to write one and managed to complete my first screenplay :) It looked real, not that it is fake, but doing a screenwriter’s job makes it all feel as if I am really producing a commercialised film.
Then came the task of producing. In order to produce, I need more people. That’s when I looked for friends who share the same interest. Luckily, my closest bunch of friends have the same intention of doing films for Portfolio. And we formed the production crew of six people.Just enough to take on different roles, according to their skills.
The focus after that was on the story, again. Having to adapt the story in film wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Bringing out the images and motion I had in mind was proven difficult, until we met for discussion. Having a team helps to build on the idea and creates more depth to the story. A lot of the raw cut of the film are added storylines, which were the ideas of my other crew members.
After the production for the filming have been confirmed, casting was next. It was the hardest task for us all. That’s truly a lesson to be learnt. Casting should be done at least a week before filming. We however managed to confirm the task the night before filming. Thanks to my crew who worked so hard contacting almost every person on their contact list.
I am therefore really am thankful to everyone who assisted me in producing Obsession, something I used to only imagine in my head, but now everyone will be able to see my imagination. Only that we have to wait till it’s final cut! Thank you once again to all the cast and crew of Obsession; Afiq, Atiqah, Hani, Katini and her brother, Mas, Navin, friend of Katini, and chicken rice auntie. And also to Katini and Mas’s family for welcoming us in using their abode for filming. Also to RP for the equipments and facilities.
- Sakinah (:
