Filming “Obsession”, Day 2
Day 2 started off in school for the school scenes. A problem emerged, yet again. This time, it was the audio. But we’re lucky enough that the story mostly comprises of voiceovers therefore audio during filming might not really be necesssary. Also today, many changes were made to the script, due to the incompatibility of the lighting on set, which unfortunately clashes with the lighting of the food stall’s names. The changes made were not really major changes so we are able to proceed with filming.
The day continued further with two more school scenes. One of which was quite a challenging scene due to the angle that we used. It was a bird’s eye view, from the point of view of one of our characters. To add salt to the wound, the movement of the head of the tripod, where the camera should be placed, wasn’t going smooth. Craning the camera became a little problematic and the scene shot was a little shaky. We did however, overcome it with much patience and determination.
After we were all complete with the school scenes, we proceeded to outdoors! By then, we had a mini problem arising again. It was drizzling! So we came up with two plans. Fortunately, God still loves us all ;) The rain stopped and we were able to take our favourite scene of the whole production! Garden of Eden! It was a really enjoyable scene because it was supposed to be a little comedic and would definitely force upon a grin on the audience’s lips. The shot was perfect and we went ahead with another two more scenes which concludes our day! And most importantly, our first ever film!
Yes, it was a short duration in which we film it. Not forgetting, it was exhausting! But it was worth every minute because we did learn so much things in the process.
1. PLANNING
Ultra essential. Consider everything carefully and make sure decisions made are not based on time-saving manner. There is a saying in Malay when translated means, let it all take a little more time, as long as everything turns out great and safe in our hands.
2. EQUIPMENTS
This is very important. Check equipments during the collection of it! Ensure everything is alright and in good condition for filming. Charge batteries, when necessary especially a day before starting on filming.
3. TEST SHOTS
These helps a lot. Doing test shots helps to determine which angle or placement would be the best for the scene. Test with audio and lighting. Take note of time and weather. Also, the setups. Take pictures!
Just some notes to self. Could be pointers to for you too! Till the next production, bye!
